Staffing levels. What %age extra for A/L & sickness?

Trying to ascertain how many staff hours we need. I gather there's an addition %age you need to add on to account for A/L (and average sickness?).

I think it's something like 14 or 17%, so say raw hours needs 20 people, you need to employ/account for an additional 14-17% of man hours? 2.8 more staff?

Is that right?

Ta.

I don't think there is a fixed percentage - depends on your sector and how much sickness is typical, how much annual leave you offer, how much time is typically needed for training and staff meetings etc in any given year.

As a rough guide, we work on the basis of a typical member of staff working the equivalent of 44 weeks per year.
