Leap year

Hi - I'm salaried. Does this mean I should get a bit more pay this year due to the leap year and also holiday?

I doubt very much that you would get more pay or an extra holiday for it. We certainly don't but that's not saying much.

So they are going to get an extra day out of me! Rude

Or maybe that's accounted for in your annual salary, and you are benefiting in the 3 years of 4, that are not leap years?

I work shifts, I can absolutely guarantee that if I work overnight when the clocks ho back, I don't the where the clocks go forward to compensate.

they could say that your pay includes 0.25 of a day every year that accounts for the leap year.

How have they handled the extra bank holidays - Queens funeral and Kings coronation? Our work just gave them to us as extra days - if your work were funny about these and made you work or take them out of existing holiday allowance then maybe I would kick up a fuss about leap year!

Do you view that you are getting an extra days pay on each month that has 31 days vs 30 days?

No… thought not…

Ah was part time then so we were given the coronation as an extra bank holiday but included in prorata entitlement so had to book it off as holiday.

The Queen everyone was just given it off as presumably we'd all be too distraught to work or something.

How much holiday do you think you'd get for 1day? Honestly it's once every 4 years it's not even worth worrying about

if you get the standard 28 days holiday a year including bank holidays then you accrue 0.1 days of holiday for every working day of the year. (28/52 =aprox 0.5 days of holiday per week you work so 0.5/5 = 0.1 per day)
You would need to work for 10 days to get 1 day of annual leave so the leap year which is every 4 years would take you a 40 years to get 1 extra day of holiday!

If you are salaried you are paid a fixed amount regardless of how much you work, unless it says in your contract that you get overtime pay. But given overtime is usually structured as hours over a given number per day/week I doubt there is any contract out there that gets a salaried worker extra pay in a leap year.

I wouldn't recommend kicking up a fuss because you'll lose.

No, you don't get more holiday or more pay just because it is a leap year. If you get, say, 25 days plus bank holidays a year, that is what you get every year, including leap years.
