Got Jan blues today.

Feel I want a new challenge/career but still need to pay bills ( 5 year old at home,).

Currently an accountant at a College, what other jobs / training should I look at.

What are you good at/interested in?

Hi,
I also work in a college, but in administration. I am currently 4 days a week, don't work a Monday. I've decided to start doing some voluntary work to see what I like and don't like. I tried working in a primary school again, but I didn't enjoy it. I've just completed a Level 2 Certificate in Customer Services and actually really enjoyed it. Sent a couple of emails before Xmas to volunteer in a charity role. Popped into a local charity shop today to speak to the manager and will start volunteering from next week. Really looking forward to a new challenge. Are you able to volunteer somewhere? Even for half a day to see if there's anything else you like doing?

Nhs funding to study (nursing, allied health professionals etc) might help pay the bills.

These jobs can be rewarding but pretty hard work physically, emotionally etc but there are obviously jobs out there. Good luck

I career-switched at 40...into accountancy 😂. Just whatever you do, don't be a teacher!

Without wanting to sound negative, I would avoid things like nursing (& any health related roles) and teaching. These appear popular, but people are struggling for a reason in these roles.
