Holiday Entitlement and Maternity Leave

Hello All,

new mom here. I am entitled to 26 days holiday per year and due 29th April (they start 1st April)

How am I best to go about it? Shall I book as many I can up to my due date? I can't take them at the same time as maternity leave. Uk based.

Your employer has to carry over holiday entitlement accrued during maternity leave.
Most people I know have put it at the end of the Mat leave - but if you want to leave earlier on full pay, then you can ask to use some before starting leave.

Ah ok, they didn't think I could do that. I shall speak to someone higher up. I'm the first to go on maternity as a new company so it's new to them too.

Yeah you accrue a/l whilst on maternity. I used mine to have 4 day weeks when I went back.x
