Hello,

My work has been going through a 'remodelling' but it's been going on for nearly a year now . Initially the changes were around conversations with the customer and the stages around this which didn't impact my role hugely that much but still a change . Anyway, they are now implementing a possible further change that may impact me more as I work from home and I'm guessing this will affect me directly but they haven't said, yet! They are proposing to pilot this for 13 week with a group of volunteers . They had a meeting in September about this and I haven't had much information provided about this so feels a bit of a shock when I heard they were piloting something.

I've not been involved in any direct consultation and I believe the union hasn't been involved either but I'm now starting to feel/think they should.

I'm about to contact my manager to ask them more questions around this 13 week piloting scheme to ask what will happen after the 13 week piloting scheme as I'm getting a bit stressed if I'm honest. .

What questions would be reasonable to ask at this stage? I have autism and have to be really careful how are communicate as I can be very direct but don't mean to be.

Would it be reasonable for me to contact my union too at this stage, should my employer be consulting with unions anyway about any remodelling ? This remodelling has been going on for nearly a year already.

Thank you for any help/advice around this.

I think you need to speak to the union. It isn't really clear clear what they are doing, and you obviously don't know either, so we can't tell you what you should be asking if we don't understand the changes or the impacts of any changes.

Whether the union should be involved depends on whether the union is recognised by the employer for collective bargaining - this is not always the case; and what exactly they are doing / how union consultation (if any) is organised.
