Co-worker not funny

At work the other day I was sat in my office on a teams meeting when a coworker has banged on my window aggressively and pulled faces, thinking it was funny. I've finished the meeting and have shouted at him not to do that again as it was unprofessional. He's then apologised and started to joke around. Cut a long story short, he's had time to think about it overnight and has cone to my office yesterday, told me that I need to listen to him and that I'm the one who is unprofessional for what I did to him. The air turned slightly blue to put it mildly and then he's left only to return seconds later to ask for something work related which I said for him to speak to a manager not me. He has been berating me for months and I've always stood up for myself but I think it's getting out of hand now. Should I put a greiviance in or just ignore him?

Good outcome OP

Well done OP. You'll need to take the telling off on the chin but he has absolutely no right behaving like that and you you've done the right thing putting a stop to it

he has been berating me for months and I've shrugged it off more or less

This is a mistake. The right thing to do is talk to your line manager about it and keep a record of all incidents.

I'd ask for some mediation from your line manager or another senior person to sort out exactly what his problem is and see if you can resolve it to at least be civil to each other.

Sorry just seen the update it's been resolved. That's very positive.

I had a coworker who did this daily, he thought it was funny to scare me. I have PTSD and even when I explained that to him he gaslit me and said nothing ever happened and I don't have PTSD. When I complained my job was threatened. I had to put up with him for quite a while until finally he was caught embezzling, using the money to buy drugs, and even using the drugs on premises! Even then they let him go ever so quietly! They sent him to rehab! There was no consequences and I think they let him come back after. I don't know, thankfully I left before then. It was the most patriarchal place I've ever worked.
