Closing date closed early for job

Hi mumsnetters!

I'm so annoyed. I recently started applying for an NHS job in another healthboard, however, I hadn't submitted the application yet, as I still had a few days left and didn't want to rush it. I received an email this morning to explain the job advert had been closed due to a high volume of applications! I'm just so frustrated! The job was in a good location to home and I feel my chances were quite good in at least getting an interview. My current service is okay, but I feel I need a change and development here isn't great. Also, there were internal roles in my current service that I decided not to go for as I want to leave. The job market in my role is apparently not great at the moment. I just feel so out of synch in attending interviews. If nothingelse the interview experience would have been good. :(((

It happens. If you're super keen, respond ASAP with your application and ask to be considered anyway. You'd need to be available for interview quickly I imagine.

I'm currently applying for jobs within nhs and have seen it written on many adverts that they may close applications early if they recieve a lot (or words to that effect)

It might be worth phoning or emailing saying that you were very interested and would it be possible to either fill out a paper application form or send in your cv.

Pretty standard everywhere really, not just the NHS. When my son was at uni applying for graduate jobs, it constantly happened to him but he soon learned, after the first few times, to just get the application in as soon as possible and not regard deadlines as targets!

This is stated on most NHS job adverts that I have seen. You should have got your application in asap if you were interested in the post.
