Trying not to be too outing as I know others in my place of work use this site.
I've been employed as a department manager in my retail job. Think clothing store and I have role of mensware department manager for example.
My role was customer facing, shop floor, sales role.
There have been so many cutbacks that now I'm basically warehouse staff/cleaner.
I have to bring in deliveries every day for every department, including heavy lifting and putting items into the correct bays. I have to clean every department including customer toilets. I also have to clean windows, touch points, tills etc.
I am doing maybe 10% of the job I was offered and 90% of a job that wasn't in my job description.
Managers have said I have to do it as my department is the quietest in the store and it falls under "other duties" in my contract.
I'm not enjoying it, I'm bored out of my mind, freezing cold working in a yard most of the day and to be honest it's not what I signed up for.
Do I have a leg to stand on after 6 months there?
