Anyone work remotely for London based employers?

Hello šŸ‘‹

I’m looking to change my career somewhat (would like to stay in the same area, or as close as, if possible) and want to work remotely for a London based employer. My reasons are that I love the capital and want to combine it with work (as I know I’d have to go for meetings) but I also have a teen daughter in the north who wants to stay at her school. My current role (band 7 NHS) is awful!

My background is medical science and quality management so I’m open to suggestions!! Currently on Ā£50k.

Or, anything else I might be interested in.

Do you mean hybrid or fully remote?

DaydreamBeliever72 · 07/12/2023 18:33

Fully remote, if possible or maybe one/two trips a month in.

The mum of one of DS's friends is fully remote writing clinical-ish copy for a pharmaceutical sales company. Something like that?

I don't know what Band 7 NHS means

I don’t really understand why you want a job with a London based company because you love the capital, but only intend to go 1-2 times a month, for work.

Could you look for a job for a more local company and plan a weekend away a month in London? You’d get more out of that than a visit for a meeting!

Just accepted a new role that’s 40% in London office. I live about 180 miles away. There are fleetingly few fully remote London jobs now.

I love that you want a fully remote London job because you love visiting London šŸ˜„.

Do you really mean you want a London salary while living far away? There's not many of those most companies who pay a London uplift want people back in the office several days a week

SylvieLaufeydottir · 07/12/2023 21:59

The only London-based employers I'm aware of who are willing to tolerate people being fully remote now are public sector organisations who can't afford their office space.

I agree. Coming into London for meetings only would not be particularly enjoyable!

You mean to say you want the London salary for remote working.

Leo227 · 07/12/2023 22:09

Pharma companies probably best bet.

I work for a software company which has a London head office, I'm fully remote, I go into the office maybe six times a year. I work as a business analyst. Not quite on 50k but should be there in a year or two.
