I have to take my pet to a spealist vet during my working hours as no other appointments...(in another town so probably be 1/2 day).
But don't have the most understanding boss...willing to take it unpaid...but she still won't like it.
Have been trying to see if any cancellations but havent been yet.
Should say can't use holiday as I work I a school.
Could say I'm poorly. But hate lying...
Wwyd?
Can I get warning?

Tell the truth, do your best to make it easy it them to say yes (arrange cover, pre plan the hours etc) and if they say no (assuming you've covered all possibilities of changing the date, someone else taking him, using a different vet who has a Sat available etc) then apologise and say you need to take it (put in writing all the planning you've done) and if they give you a warning so be it. It'll only be on your file a year.

My mum was a teacher and I remember once the poor cat sitting on the doorstep at 8am after being attacked by a fox, ear pretty much hanging off. He needed an emergency vet appointment and surgery. HT got arsey so she emailed in a photo of the poor bugger (before smartphones then) and said ‘what do you suggest I do then, leave him at home to get sepsis or go into shock and die? Do you think I will be doing a good job today knowing kitty is suffering in the kitchen?’
Took one look at the picture and said please go now.
Not all of us are animal lovers but you have a duty to your pet and it’s exceptional. Offer to take it unpaid but you have to go.
