Work travel and sickness - guilt

I'm supposed to be travelling with work today and back on Thursday - I have a very nasty chest infection and I don't think I should be going.

Not least because I don't want to spread it to my colleagues or people on the train!!

But my team, my manager and my managers manager are making me feel bad for not going (it isnt a client meeting!). I feel rotten physically.

I'm the only woman on the team so feel double pressure to prove myself.

Anyone been through similar? I think it may be time to seek a new job despite this one being still fairly new

Oh no poor you. You can't help being poorly. Are you on antibiotics? I hope they start working soon.
In regards to your managers, they shouldn't be making you feel bad. Is there not anybody else who can go in your place?

No, if you're ill you're ill. Stay home and rest.

Thanks both. Have ducked out of the work trip but it hasn't gone down well at all

Yes I'm on antibiotics. I haven't felt this ill since pre pandemic

You have done the right thing. How dare they treat you like this? When people are poorly you say oh no I’m sorry how can I help? These people are mean.

the alternative was me spreading my germs to them and their families for Christmas! but they don't see that

(can tell I'm the only woman on the team!)

They are idiots, you've done the right thing. Could you maybe make a complaint to HR that you're being pressured to work when you aren't able?
