Should I email them

I applied fa job at the weekend. It's literally my dream job and I'm desperate to leave my current job (but can't until I get a new one). I haven't heard back though and DH said I should email them and ask if they are still recruiting as I'll look keen but I'm not sure if it would create the right impression.
Should I email or leave it?

Is there a closing date on the advert?
It won't do any harm to resend your CV and ask if they received your application? If nothing else it will move you to the top of the pile again.

When is the closing date for applications? And did they give a date they will contact successful applicants by?
