Civil service flexi

Hi, I’m a SEO. I was wondering if other SEOs filled out their flexi sheets or if their G7 regularly asks for it?

I’ve been in this post since July and haven’t submitted it…but I’ve been a CS for years and my line managers have always been lax with it!

Also to add, I’m definitely in a role where I do unpaid overtime that I can’t be bothered to claim as flexi…I’d probably reach the 3 day limit before I can use it. I have loads of AL too.

I entered as an SEO and am now a G6, I don't think I've ever had a flexi sheet reviewed. I do them though and keep them all, I send a link to it when submitting flexi leave and asked the same of my staff just for a cursory check, quite small teams so would know if anything was especially amiss.

Retired for some time now, final grade was SEO in a small Quango.

In last role neither flexi time nor AL were monitored by G6/7.

Casting mind back further to offices where flexi was managed with a clock card there were daily print outs which managers signed. Most only watched for obvious abuse. Those who put effort into monitoring tended to be the type for whom timekeeping was the most complex thing they could understand.....

@messyyyy I am probably not the best person to respond as I was HR and used to do whole office audits (pre time recording system). I also was involved in dismissing people for flexi abuse - it’s fraud.

Personally I always kept one, even as a G7, for my own records.

My approach changed over the decades and I only checked time sheets for new team members for the first couple of months, for those new to the CS I checked for 6 months. Basically making sure they all understood the rules in the directorate/department and were correctly applying them. I reserved the right to check as I could usually spot who was taking the piss - I worked on the basis most people are honest and spot checks are often sufficient to pick up those abusing the flexi system.
