Promotion & moving into line management

Have been in current post for 15 months and a secondment opportunity has come up, same company very different area, some overlap in terms of my current role. It is a new post which would be a step up and will involve line management of a small team of 6-7.There is a long term vision for this post, but as yet it is not yet 100%. I have only line managed 1 person for 6 mths or so 20+ years ago, so my question is how do I know whether line management is me?
I am an introvert and naturally quiet but have always worked in team environments, some have been more accepting of this than others. I am early 50's and some days I feel as I though I want more and am capable of more as I have always worked around my kids who are now pretty much grown up. I get on well with the current team I work with but don't see any real scope for progression at the moment. I am currently doing the ILM, as I am keen to add to my skill base. Any advice would be appreciated.

Being quiet can be a strength as a line manager. It makes you approachable. You're also clearly self aware and humble enough to be working on your own development with the ILM.

Nobody wants a loud brash bully or someone so arrogant they think they already know it all as their line manager.

You say it's a secondment opportunity, so worse case scenario if you try it and it's not for you can you return to your substantive post? In which case, what's to lose?
