Which 3 days should I return to work on?

I am currently on mat leave with my first baby.

We have signed her up to a nursery. They would like to know which days she will go to nursery on. I would like to return to work 3 days a week.

Which 3 days are best? Should I go back on 3 consecutive days: Tues, Wed, Thurs? Or would it be better for me and my daughter to go back with a day off in between, e.g., Mon, Tues, Thurs?

My work is reasonably flexible. It is an office job and I mainly work from home except on Tuesdays, when I have to go into the office. The office is a 1 hr 30 mins train journey away so Tuesdays are a reasonably long day.

Any advice on this would be hugely appreciated before I approach my work to request the days. Thank you very much!

Very sensible choice OP. Some crazy advice on this thread. When you work part time, it's always better not to work on a Monday so you get the benefit of the extra bank holiday leave.

It should make no difference

You should get the 8 bank holidays pro rated (so 3/5) like any other holiday allowance then take off which ones you should have worked but take off.

Only difference is you get more flexibility on when you use them if you don't work Mondays.

i dont work mondays but when colleagues have a bank holiday sometimes i take the tuesday off so i get the benefit too!

Don't work Monday. You will end up paying for nursery when it is closed for bank holiday. And be forced to take annual leave for any Mondays you are due to work
