Working notice and doing bare min 2 weeks left

Resigned 3 months ago... they haven't replaced my job and asked me to do a job spec, handover notes, appraisals for my team etc. Which I've all done to a high standard yet they can't get their act together to find a replacement for me and will probably only start panicking when I'm gone...
I've decided to do the bare min for my last 2 weeks left ... it won't even be noticed whether I work 12 hours a day or just the critical stuff to leave the team on good standing. So I'm not putting any more effort in and focusing on goodbyes. I don't feel one ounce of guilt ... in fact I'm elated. Work usually forgets about people within a few weeks whether they worked their arse off or not...

Good for you!

I wish I'd done the same when I left my last place. Instead, I continued to work all the hours I could to make sure it wasn't completely shit for the next person, including working on Christmas Eve. Looking back I should have just done the bare minimum for the last couple of weeks, especially as they owed me 9 days in lieu, which they refused to pay me for. I was not really in my right mind at the time!

Why on earth would you be working 12 hour days? You’re leaving. Phoning it in on your notice period is standard.

Well... because I'm usually very conscientious and like to feel like I do my best. I had to have a long hard chat with myself looking at how this employer treated me, and how nothing I do will make an ounce of long term difference. Just wish I came to the realisation sooner! Although better than never !

It’s possible they’re not replacing you?
Your documentation will be used by the remaining staff?

Anyway, as long as it sits right with you carry on!

Could be they've decided not to...their choice... although it would be better to be open about it as some things have nowhere to be handed off to now as a result ! Their choice ... their issue. Totally now sitting right with me as they've been so shit throughout working there and also through notice ...

They couldn't care less about you and you'll be forgotten as soon as you're gone - so put your feet up and have a rest 😂.
