I’m a single parent and have been at my company for over 15 years, hence I am secure in terms of compensation in case of redundancy. However, it also means I am significantly underpaid from the market rate (not having hopped about).

I’ve now been offered a job at a different company which pays significantly better, however I am nervous about lack of protection if the worst happens. My industry is volatile!

Has anyone ever heard of writing something into a contract that guarantees a redundancy pay-out if it happens with less than 2 years service?

Yes, it happens sometimes, but you are unlikely to get a clause like this unless you are in a very senior role or have particularly rare skills. Have you tried negotiating a pay rise with your current employer?

Ha, yes but not able to get anywhere near the £25k rise I can get from moving

It is a senior role so I can ask

anyone else heard of this?
