Returning to work after maternity leave

Currently on enhanced maternity leave. Was in a full time role and my current maternity cover in the part time role (exactly same job role same pay and responsibilities) I have put in a flexible working request asking for a job share with my cover which was denied , asking essentially our hours would be switched as a jobshare on my return.(Again exactly the same job role and my cover has said she wants the full time contract) whilst on maternity leave my maternity covers part time role has been filled permanently with a member of staff due to be made redundant. This was not shared with me until after my flexible working request was put in. Obviously I am not now able to put in another request. The vacancy was not opened up, as I would have applied. I am unable to return to my full time role and have been told the only position they have is a demotion and pay cut 8 hour part time role which they can’t open to me as they are on a recruitment freeze. I have also been told it is pointless me coming in for KIT days as I may not have a role there and have received none of my work benefits during my maternity leave. Can anyone advise me if any wrong doing has been done on their part, feel like I’m going crazy

How long have you been on ml? They need to offer you an equivalent ft role but not necessarily the same job after extended leave and do not have to agree reduced hours. What benefits have you missed out on, those should be retained throughout and you continue to accrue leave. Could you use leave to work shorter hours/fewer days initially?

I’ve taken 28 weeks leave, my full time role is still available for me but can’t help thinking that my leave cover agreed to giving up her position knowing I wouldn’t be able to come back full time. Should they not legally have advertised the role before filling it?
unfortunately I had to take my leave before my maternity so will have none to use when I return in January.
Despite chasing I have received no company benefits such as allowances and friends and family discount.
