Being bullied in new job

Mollerss · 09/11/2023 11:43

New manager on team and everyone has locked horns with them. New manager shouts, ridicules, and micro manages.

I want to report to HR desperately, but as I am so new, I am concerned I won’t be taken seriously.

Any advice?

Honestly? Find a new job.

Still in probation? stick it out while looking for something else, even if it's temping. Life's too short to deal with arsehole managers (voice of experience speaking).

Another vote for find another job. Stick it out while you do so. HR won’t help you and despite everyone else also (supposedly) being annoyed, they won’t back you up if you do complain.

And you've singled yourself out by being new and already complaining about a manager (however bad).

If you go quickly enough you can even miss it off your CV.

The whole team hate the new manager

i was keeping an open mind until I’m now in their firing line

Yeah, get out. Once you have a target on your back there's no getting it off. Can you temp or get a Christmas job?

I just had to leave a new job because of this. She started the same time as me and kept picking faults. I started losing confidence as I felt I was rubbish in the role. Then I found out others were having similar problems with her, but that doesn’t help really. I’ve got out but I feel angry as I was really happy and excited about my new job. I keep daydreaming about how I can get revenge (I’m still in the same company).

This is almost like a once in a lifetime job

so I’m reluctant to let it go

maybe I can move teams
