I work in a small ish team and recently we have had a few new hires, a couple who have been great and another who I don't think is pulling his weight. We're extremely busy and there is always stuff to do, we never have times where there is literally nothing to do. Even during "quieter" times there's still adhoc stuff/project work that needs doing.

I feel like one of the new hires is taking the piss a bit. Quite often I've noticed he is sat playing games on his laptop / generally just browsing the web. Not even during these "quieter" times, it's times where some of us are literally under pressure trying to get stuff done and working to tight deadlines.

Should I mention it to my manager or keep it to myself? I don't want to come across as a snitch, but it is frustrating when he could be being proactive and isn't actually doing his job!

I’d bring up the distribution of tasks and how the newer members are getting on board and can start handling regular workload. Keep it positive.
