Career move on flexibility

Hello

As dilemma though a good one I guess

Two job offers
First
Pros
One better for my career I suppose - perm work , pensions paid leave and all the benefits- better salary and more interesting / as senior and plays to my experience so far

Cons
Further away , longer hours less flexibility initially

Second
Pros
Next to daughters school so will be easier to pick up and drop off

Cons
Not in sector I'll enjoy and it's a temp contract only . Less money

My daughter is 3 at nursery part time so with first I'll have to increase her hours but then she's off to reception next year anyway

What do I do ? Or what would you do ?

Definitely the first one. You need the security and also having a pension is incredibly important.

Do you have a partner? Can they help out re flexibility/childcare? It shouldn't all fall on your shoulders.

Oh, and don't underestimate the stress that an unenjoyable job can bring. Even if there are other, apparent, benefits. Been there, got the t-shirt!

Yes he's very local as a teacher to daughters school

I'll just miss pick up and drop offs

Depends on the money difference and the family income and if you have a partner and how available they are.
MN is a firm believer of career above all else but I wouldn’t want to run myself ragged and screw up my home life for one (and I’m the main earner in my home).

I would definitely do the first. An interesting job with more flexibility would outweigh pickups and drop offs for me.

the interesting job has the less flexibility at the mo
but long term hoping a secure perm
job would allow me late starts / late finish or some type of compressed hours
