I’ve currently been working for the nhs as a band 4 NN. I work part time 23 hours a week.
i used to do just nights but have recently changed to doing 2 short days and every Friday night. I hate having to work every Friday night as it completely ruins my weekends and tbh makes my life miserable and others around me.

we have a care home which is next door to us and I’ve applied for a job there. The hours would be 8-8pm 3 on 3 off, so pretty much the same as nhs hours.
I’m just unsure if to just stay doing my 2 short days and Friday night or change to 3 longer days.
the reason of wanting to leave is the Friday nights and just generally being treated like a number within the system. I’ve been put on 1:1 care which means having to sit in a room by myself all night. This has been 5 weeks in a row and I’ve had to put my foot down and have a bit of a kick off.
the bright side of going to the care home is not having to drive there as it being on your doorstep and also better career progression without going to uni.

any advice would be great on what others would do

Sorry if I state the obvious, but 3 on 3 off would mean working 2 entire weekends every 6 weeks, plus 2 other weekends working either the Saturday or the Sunday. In other words only 2/6 weekends are completely free.
Since your current job ruins your weekends, would this new shift pattern work better for you?

I’m not bothered about working weekends I’m bothered by working every Friday night and then having lack of sleep Saturdays. Which then just makes my whole weekend rubbish.

im used to shift work and working weekends.
