Hi civil service people

Looking for info from people that have been given Retention and recruitment allowance or are in charge of deciding if staff can keep it.

Has anyone been given the allowance before? Has it ever been taken away?
How often does it get removed?

Thanks

RRA’s in my experience are fairly rare, except for London Allowance, but should be explained in the pay policy. It is the role not the person who attracts an RRA and if you move out of the role you normally either lose it immediately or it is a phased reduction over 3 years. It is possible to remove an RRA but it’s fairly rare, again it should follow the pay policy rules.

Are you able to give more details about your concerns? If not, ask for a copy of the pay policy rules about RRA they may be published on the Intranet.

@Sisterpita so you know if RRA is taxable?

@Needtoyoga yes RRA’s are taxable and NI able. Check as they may or may not be pensionable.
