Amending LinkedIn

It has come to light that an owner of a company I once worked at, a few years ago, has done some dodgy things and I want to distance myself. I want to amend the name of the company on my LinkedIn, I have done this but if you google the name of the company and my name, my profile still comes up.

What do I need to do to change this please? Anyone know?

Your LinkedIn profile is actually quite flexible. There is no need to have any jobs listed at all! Just delete the job in question.

For privacy reasons, I have no jobs listed and just have a long profile description. I name some of my previous employers in that, but they are far less searchable. Anywhere I wanted to work would still require a CV, so my full details are on there anyway.

I have 600+ connections and people still ask to connect with me, so it really doesn’t matter.

Mine is a copy of my cv. It's never been an issue before. Maybe I should change it.

But I have removed this company name from my profile and google is still bringing me up in the search.

I've deleted that company completely from my profile but google is still showing my profile when company name + my name is googled.

I've done a ctrl+f search of my page, for the company name, too and there is nothing there.

It takes a bit to show the change on google

This is a Google indexing issue rather than a LinkedIn one. Google is indexing using the cached version of the LinkedIn page not the up to date one.

You could make a right to be forgotten request to Google in relation to this company or just wait it out until they re-index against the up to date page.

I'd suggest this there's a link you can follow on Google and you just request whi j information/words/links you want removing.

AlwaysPrettyOnTheInside · 24/10/2023 09:47

How long could that take?

I've been googling how to remve a search result from google.

If you contact Google its gone instantly. I know because I removed my name from several website.

AlwaysPrettyOnTheInside · 25/10/2023 08:17

Its still there but not the first result now.

@Fawbs89 How do I contact google please? I clicked the 3 dots next to the result but there was no option to contact them. I clicked the send feedback and did that yesterday but that wasn't a request to remove.

Incase anyone comes across this same issue in the future and wants to remove a cached page, you do it here: https://support.google.com/websearch/troubleshooter/9685456?hl=en

Request to remove your personal information on Google - Google Search Help
