Hi
iv got any interview for the HEO position as UC operational leader at DWP.
iv never worked in civil service befote so just wondering if there is anyone who works as a UC work coach or HEO for UC that can give me insight to what is involved in job? Iv tried to research and alot of negative reviews coming up, so thought of getting personal opinions of people actually working in the role.
i would be leaving a job which i enjoy at present but was looking for progression as none available with my current employer.
so any work coaches or actual Heo for UC that could provide any advice, would be really grateful.
thankyou

I don’t have any answers but I’d love to know too - have an interview coming up soon.

I don't work in the role but I am at DWP. From what I know there is a lot of responsibility at HEO grade compared to other HEO roles. I also think it can be relatively unpopular as I think it isn't Hybrid working.
Having said that there are lots of opportunities available if you do well in the role - both the SEOs in my team have previously done that HEO role and they're now brilliant SEOs in a completely different role

Hi, how do you think you've got on with the interview? I also had a interview for the same role and currently work within the dwp at EO level.
Heo's usual have alot of employees to oversee aswel as attend a number of meetings to feed regular updates down the chain. The ethos im getting at the moment is they want people to lead by example and not manage as such. Did you look at the strength and behaviours guide before the interview as that would have helped massively.
Wishing you good luck 🤞

Hi
unfortunately I didnt get the job. We got the questions before hand as well, and I thought i answered them well, but only scored 3 in each,so not sure where it went wrong,as feedback stated not enough detail, but not sure how much more I could have added.so quite disappointed

Hi @Aliza0886 getting 3s on a first civil service interview going into HEO role seems like a really great start and good experience going further.
I have an interview coming up for the same role. Were you told you would get the questions beforehand? I haven’t heard anything like that
