Another rejection

Just a moan really….

I’ve applied for a couple of jobs recently. Both times got through to the final stage with a handful of other candidates, and both times been rejected.

I feel a little bit gutted about today’s rejection. The recruiter was SUPER positive after the previous stage and suggested just do the same again and I’d get the job.

No feedback and it’s taken 2 weeks for them to get back to me.

My current role is boring and I’m so unmotivated. Feeling gutted. I don’t want the feedback but equally do if I’m ever going to have a chance to move into something that makes me even a little bit happy.

I feel you! You are not alone in this. Sending positive vibes your way, keep looking and searching. He who seeks will always find

Keep going. I know exactly how you feel. I am desperate to get another job and I’ve realised through the entire process that you have to learn a whole new skill set to successfully apply and interview. Even after you’ve managed that, there are things completely outside of your control. You will get a job if you keep going. Try and detach your personal connection to any one outcome from the process and just keep refining yourself each time.

Keep going! The right job will come along.

I'm also desperately looking for a new role. I'm so bored where I am. It's frustrating because I'm often waiting up to 3 weeks for an interview 😐

This. I’ve just interviewed twice for the civil service and it’s taken 8-10 weeks from application to get the interviews. Not sure how long I’ll wait to hear, and then if successful another few months for the security. Definitely need to play the long game!

Might just be that someone with a little more experience came along after you.

Thanks all. I’ve picked myself up and on the way to the office today.

Trying to take the positives from the current situation. Lots of time to do laundry, tidying, make dinner whilst on (boring) conf calls. I’m reading a book/ scrolling MN on the train rather than frantically working (like I used to).

I really loved the company/ culture of the last place I interviewed at, so think it will be hard to find another comparable role.

Ah sorry to hear that OP, my DSis was in a similar position, kept getting sifted but not quite crossing the line. She also had an interview with a company she was really keen on and was gutted when she was unsuccessful; she had good feedback though and applied for a similar role when it came up and got it! Hoping something crops up soon.

Keep going....I've had this. It took me from about 2018 to 2022 to get my new job. (Relatively senior so not a huge amount of openings each year - I literally extinguished the market...).

One thing I hated doing and actually never did till my last time (the job I did actually get ! Ha) is to literally practice the interview. Both by myself and with someone else (the recruiter practically forced me to do it). It's horrible and bleh and just bleh bleh bleh but it helps so much.
Also prepping for the questions and actually writing them and the answers out. You know, the usual give me an example of a time when you blah .....
Do it!
Though it's crap at the time.
