Promoted in pay but not in job title

Keen to gauge thoughts on this one.

I had a very positive review. Feedback was that I had mastered the role and all leadership agreed to my promotion to the senior version of the role.

However, as somebody else in a similar role has been there longer and not progressed similarly, my promotion would be kept quiet for the sake of sensitivity and tact. I was given a pay rise confirmed by end - and asked if I minded about it not being announced or my job title changing. I said not really. I don't much care about getting public recognition, but

My job title hasn't been changed on my contract or anywhere else.

Would others welcome the pay rise and leave it be, or should I be asking for any change to my contract?

Thanks

I would want the job title change for my future CV. I would agree not to tell colleagues though.

The leadership is weak if they are keeping this quiet for the reasons you state. They need to manage this with the other person.
