Overnight work trip

I know this will vary from one organisation to another, but all replies welcome.

I'm going away on an overnight work trip soon. Accommodation and expenses sorted.

This is not a routine part of my role.

I'll be claiming for an early start on day one and late finish on day two, but a colleague said I should be able to claim more for the actual overnight element too (although not anything like 15/16 hours between normal shift finish and start time)

Can anyone tell me the overtime policy for this in their own workplace?

My DH used to work away, and he ‘clocked off’ when he wasn’t working, so usually 5pm to 9am. But his travel and accommodation was paid for, along with something towards a meal.
