Always worked in private sector, finding it hard to get work being older !

It’s a minefield so widening my options.

Finance job in council what is it like compared to private sector?

I’ve alway thought of it as not a great career move working for a Local Authority but keen to hear what it’s like …salary is lower but benefits seem good.

I've done the same -private to LA.
All the councils I've worked for have been so flexible. So when I had small kids it was great.
I've stacked up loads of holiday, flexi time and the pension is good
But...the layers of paperwork /red tape to get ANYTHING done is ridiculous.
And the amount of policies we have that cover every bloody possible 'woke' situation does my flipping head in
If you can put up with that , then all good

Great benefits- pension, flexible working etc
lower pay
no bonuses
strict structure, policy/procedures to follow

I don’t mind it.
