Pub work..?

I'm thinking of going to work in a pub while my DC are still small. The thing is the hours aren't great which is to be expected.
It's 12pm-10pm shifts over weekends.
Has anyone done this kind of work? Did you enjoy it or did you get fed up or the unsociable hours?

I did pub work in my twenties in a local pub and loved it. It's physical work but I loved the customer interaction and I enjoyed working in customer service

The occasional ones that are a bit "too friendly" towards you are irritating but overall, it can be interesting. Some love to talk and you learn some interesting things.

Not sure if UK does tips but that's always a nice additive

I did it in my teens and early 20s. I did not mind the hours at all. I did mind the sheer exhaustion ... physical work, on your feet for 10 hours. Check out the area around the pub. Is it nice to get home from? Is it a drinkers pub, or a families with food type place?

Check out the pub on a busy Saturday night and, if it shows sport, when there is a local match on the telly. Places can seem very nice on the surface ... one pub I worked in was really lovely in the week, but hell on a football Saturday.

Loved the job generally, chatting with customers was one of the best parts.
