For various reasons, including raising my DC alone and mentally not in a great place, I’ve been out of the work place for ten years. I’m in a position now where I feel mentally well enough to get back into the workplace. I’m nervous and dreading interviews and also not feeling confident in my own abilities.
for the last little while I’ve been trying to do various courses including some Microsoft office courses as a refresh and to bring my skills up to date.
before everything that happened (nothing to do with work - all personal life things) that made me leave my last well paying job where I was very confident and doing well, I was working as a project manager with various building schemes and funding. I’d like to go back to a similar sort of thing managing any type of project as organisational skills was a main strength of mine and I enjoyed it.
I’ve been looking at jobs adverts and lots ask for project management qualifications mainly Prince2 (I worked my way up before so although got some ILM qualifications never actually did Prince2). I’m seeing paying for at least the foundation course myself as perhaps a good investment in myself that would help with applying for jobs - has anyone done this themselves, online and done the exam online? How did you find it and how does the exam work? Is there literally someone watching you over Zoom to make sure you’re not cheating?! I can’t picture it!
also, as it’s been ten years out of the workplace do you think I ought to look at lower end of scale jobs/entry ones? Is it unrealistic to think I’d be wanted for anything after more experience?
stuck in a rut but determined to get out of it! Thanks for any advice!
