Factory job (rude lady)

So, I just started this new job at a factory and I kind of enjoy it because is different from sitting at my desk working from home 8-5pm 🙄

Although it's hard work at the factory standing for 12 hour shifts with loads of breaks

Now there is an Eastern European lady who sorts of like to take charge/lead when we are working in groups

The other shift, she shouted at me claiming I spent 12mins for break instead of 5 (I sort of ignored her but i nodded acknowledging what she was saying as there is a lot of machinery noise in the factory

When it was time for next break, she commanded I go first and I did

But when she went for her break, she as gone for about 15mins

The other lady went and came back and the lady later told me she asked her in polish why she came back early and she told her that she had to because she was telling me off for spending too long on break

I left work that day very unhappy at the was she shouted at me and I didn't reply

So nxt day I called her to say she can not speak to me like that and that it should never happen and the other lady was there interpreting for her and she said she didn't shout and I said the manner she spoke was rude and that if she's got problems with my timekeeping or work, she needs to take up with manager and that she's must not, can not shout at me or talk to as though I am her toddler at home

She never apologised but went to other colleagues asking them if they saw/heard her shouting at me and one told her to apologise but she never did.

I have refused to work with since then and when some other group of ladies heard what she did they all shouted oh she is doing it again that she is always like that and that several have left the factory in their 1st week because of her behaviour and attitude to them.

I called the office today to report her but the manager is on holiday till Monday

Shall is still go ahead to report her
I really want to because she is not a nice person at all and that is probably why is being at the job for 7 years and no promotion for her at all.
I really want her to be fired but I don't know if it's in my place to sight that to the factory.

You've just started and you've stuck up for yourself so I would suggest you leave it at that. You definitely won't get her fired either.

I really want to because she is not a nice person at all and that is probably why is being at the job for 7 years and no promotion for her at all.

Is she even after a promotion? 1000s of people up and down the country are working in factories and never get promoted, so I'm not sure that's a sign of anything?

And as @Timeforchangeithink says, you're not going to get her fired over this.

However, if you're still unhappy then yes, you should report the incident.

So I have today left the factory job

I applied for holiday in my 2nd week thinking it will not be approved but it was and I got holiday pay

And I have taken a free sick days off + 2 days holiday (approved)

Only for me to hear while on holiday that Senior manager had a meeting & called me & others who started at the same time out wh joke he sent others to work and was sort of shouting threatening that we are taking holidays etc and that it won't be paid and that we are taking 2 long on breaks- one of the lady argued that the holidays were approved by the supervisor and that it can't be only us taking 2 long on breaks etc and she quite right there because of the way things were going
I went back to work yesterday and the other lady was moved to work the the lady who bullied and was rude to myself and her in our 1st week and she decided to leave the job

She then texted me to say she heard the supervisor who approved our holiday telling her friend that we are useless and lazy and that they will be sacking us end of this week etc (the rude lady and the supervisors are friends)

I decided not to waste my time any further as I can see the set at the factory. The Eastern Europeans there do not want anyone apart from themselves there

I called the supervisor to the side and told her I have heard a lot about what happened last week etc and the place is not an environment I wanna work in and that I am leaving the job. She seems nervous when I called her to the side bit said nothing and just nodded

I am angry at the way we were treated and that they had their way in the end because they never wanted us.
The other lady is saying she is going to file a complaint about the way we were treated and I will joining her too

I heard the senior manager said they won't be paying us for the approved holiday taken but doubt they will try that as that will be foolish on their part because they were approved holidays.

Sorry this long winded I am just shocked that there are work places like this.

Unfortunately, there is not alot you can do. Join a trade union. Make sure you get a contract when you start work and always get yer pay slip. These were the basic rules my parents taught me and what I have taught my kids . Factory work is very hard, OP. My son does it and my husband. My mum used to do and my nana before her and my mum used to say I was too soft for it. I hope you find something better soon.

Also you can phone up ACAS and ask them for advise on the pay dispute . They will be able to advise if the boss is chatting nonsense or not, OP. Just google number.

I doubt she would get fired on your say so. You're new and in most respects she is probably a good worker.People can be very blunt ,she has an unpleasant way with her and she is probably used to people giving her as good as they get. Report her if she is bullying you.
As to the unfair breaks, take the allowed time. Workplaces can be very cliquey and some people get away with a lot which can cause resentment. It's normal to want to moan! Give it time!
