I work in hospitality. I have now for close to 2 years. It's fexible and lets me work around my disabled daughter.
But...Toxic is an understatement, is down right criminal at this point.
We are a small team and the turnover is massive because no one wants to work as hard as we do at that hotel and sometimes for free.
The problem is there's two on the team that have been there the longest so somehow see themselves as the holy grail... the gossip, the talking behind your back, the accusations, the lies, the spreading rumors, the talking to their higher ups somewhat entitled, the stealing, the yelling, the cursing...
Look I have never seen such environment before... and nothing happens to them because the job is so undesirable that they keep those employees as a guarantee the job will somehow be "done".
The only thing they are is being reliable. And that's why it has continued for as long as it has.
I feel like the manager is bit fearful and sometimes even defends them so there's no altercations.
I have now been off for covid and we've been having short staff issues ( I wonder why) and the hotel has been at its busiest. I know for a fact they will blame me or anyone that takes time off for the pressure they've been left with.
However it's the company that it's at fault not me or anyone else... I am entitled to sick leave and if they can't find staff that stays more than a week that's not my problem.
I already know, when I get back the amount of drama will be something out of a soap opera.
They will not tell to my face and It doesn't affect me much as I stand my ground, I'm not easly bullied , however it is tiring.
Anyone else experienced this kinda of work environment?
