Just wanted to ask something regarding flexible working
Is flexible working available for childcare reasons?
If not what reasons is it granted for

Flexible working is for whatever reason you want it. Childcare is a popular reason but you could request it because you fancy a day in bed a week. The reasons for the request are pretty much irrelevant.

There are eight reasons the request can be denied

  • it would harm your performance in the job - or the performance of your colleagues
  • it would cost the business money
  • it would reduce quality or standards
  • your employer would struggle to meet customer demand
  • your employer would have trouble hiring extra staff to cover your work
  • your employer would struggle to reorganise work among your colleagues
  • there isn’t enough work to do at the times you want to work
  • your employer is planning changes to the business structure and your request wouldn’t fit with the changes

Or more generally that the request would fail to meet the needs of the service.
