Has anyone started a new job and then faced redundancy?

I started my new job a month ago and yesterday I found out there's a threat of redundancy.

Apparently the UK is heading towards recession and the manufacturing industry is going to get hit the hardest. I work in manufacturing in product design.

Investors are pulling out left, right and centre. So the company has already lost a few million £

Any experiences welcome 😊

I think many industries are struggling in addition to manufacturing. All non customer facing roles in the company I’m in are leaving and now it’s hitting customer facing roles. I was told my manager was leaving last thursday and I had to assume their responsibilities with no pay rise. Sorry you are in that position after changing job’s so recently. I am not in manufacturing- same principles apply ie investors not investing and our customers are reevaluating their portfolio.

I had a similar experience. Don't waste any time finding a new job is my advice.
I recall jokingly asking in my interview if there were any possibility of take over/buy outs for the company. Assured not. Liars.

I'm so nervous. The job market is ody quiet. It's a bit eerie.

My husband experienced that too. It was horrible.

Last week I had a dream that he was made redundant and now it looks like it'll be me. My worst Mystic Meg moment ever...
