Promotion or not...?

I have been in my current role for just over 12 months, there have been up and downs along the way, but I work for a nice team and largely enjoy my job. A promotion opportunity has come up, which is in an area (different team) I worked in for a number of years, and is still very close to my heart in many ways.
Opportunities like this are limited at the moment, and I am interested in the role, but also feel quite torn/loyal to my current team. Although I have reached the maximum contribution threshold in salary terms, so my salary does not increase annually and following a restructure of the salary band below me, I am effectively worse off pay wise than the salary band below me, as I work more hours and have more responsibility. Of course I could apply and just not stand a chance but equally questioning whether it is the right thing to do anyway. I guess it is heart versus head🤔, plus my overthinking brain.... Any advice would be appreciated.

I am afraid to break it to you, but they will move on within a week. At most

Not like you’ve been there 12 years!

This is true.
I didn't take a promotion due to.loyaly to my old team, about 8 months later I was offered another promotion and decided I couldnt afford not to take it.
Old team stayed in touch for about 6 months but it petered off and after that nothing! Look after yourself.
I'm now much better off financially and actually made far better connections since in new team.
