Hi, would love some advice on whether this situation means I can make the case that my role is redundant.
There was a large restructure a year ago which meant my role changed slightly (roles were pooled and I was successful). At the time the management level above me was removed meaning I reported directly to the vice president although in a more junior role than his other direct reports.
This situation has been difficult for the past year, the other person in the same position as me (my level but reporting to the VP) left the business and wasn’t replaced leaving me as the exception. I have had to step up for certain tasks and lacked support in some areas.
The management level above me has now been reinstated with me reporting to them. Alongside this change, the tasks of the team have been reviewed with some associated changes including job titles.
This leaves me with a different reporting line, job title and some different tasks and accountabilities to the role I opted to take a year ago (when redundancy was an option) so I wonder whether I could now say the job I took isn’t the job I now have?
Worth saying it’s a large, unionised organisation. I have asked for a formal review of my role profile which has raised the point that there are changes although I’ve been told they’re ‘not significant’. Thanks a lot.
