How to overcome from fear of delighting?

My director is happy with my work and I have made management changes for my team which are highly recognised. I was hired as a associate director 5months ago for a team who’s moral was extremely low. In last 5 months improvements are made and recognised by my management. Recently my director is asking me to slowly handover couple of big projects that I’m working to 1-2 of my reports. They are doing great. I need to take that leap and handover those big projects. I’m nervous to give those projects away as I fear what if my role becomes empty!? I do not see any concerns from my director but in past my previous management hired me to do sr manager role and by that time I joined the job the job was made redundant and it took me years to build up my posit again.

How do I over come this fear!?

It's always a bit harder when your fear is based on a past experience.

Have you articulated this to your manager? I'm sure they can help allay your fears. I bet they are just making sure the work is being done in the right place and there is plenty of work in the cupboard you could be doing - perhaps they have been doing work that's really yours for instance?
