Self cert with stress- what to say?

I’ve been in a stressful situation at work for some time now and it’s got worse over the last couple of weeks to the point where I’m crying and/or anxious most days.

I have tried to raise the issues professionally with my manager but got nowhere.

If i were to self cert for a week with stress, how on earth do I word it?

Hi @Intelligenthair
I'm sorry you're going through this.
You're doing the right thing by taking time off sick. As above put it down as work related stress. Take the time to focus on yourself and your wellbeing xx

Thank you. I am a bit scared of the can of worms it will unleash but things can’t go on like this.

How about you sign yourself off for a week with anxiety and exhaustion and see how it goes. If you need more time off or want to push a risk assessment at work after that week, you can then push the work related stress button, but you will give yourself a week’s breathing space before you do so

At this stage I wouldn’t put work related stress. I am sure it is but it could prejudice things going forward.
exhaustion is the best opening gambit. Then you get a GP to write work related stress when you get a fit note.
