Pregnant with a 9 month old, should I tell work?

So I've just found out I'm pregnant. I have a 9 month old via IVF after four years of trying, so I'm in complete shock as we didn't think this would happen.

I'm due to start back at work in a few weeks and in my role I manage a large team at a local council. I'd only be back in until April, so in my head it feels like a lot of upheaval for the team to have me come back in and then another maternity cover to start in April.

I'm tempted to tell my Director as soon as I get back (would be a bit before 12 weeks) as in my head it might make sense for them to try and keep the mat cover on and then put me on to some other projects for the 7 months I'll be there. Is this me just thinking in a fantasy world?!

Curve ball is that I'd only worked there for a year and a half before I went on mat leave, so I just feel really uncomfortable and want to try and make everything work as well as possible.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

I don't think I'd tell them before your first scan/12 weeks.

I told mine ASAP, but depends on how supportive your manager is and how complicated your pregnancy is

I'd tell them if you will need any support or help or differences made due to your pregnancy eg if you have lots of appointments of morning sickness. Then you'll be protected from pregnancy discrimination

I would tell them.

Personally no, because after my first child my next two pregnancies ended in early miscarriage and so on. Would want to know I had got to 12 week scan ok. Hopefully all goes well, but I would not want my job changing etc if a pregnancy did not continue,

congratulations! Mine were IVF too!
