Hi just wondering if there are any other AHPs out there that have left the NHS to do something else? It’s a really difficult decision and I feel like I’m trapped as I earn a very good wage at the moment (top of band 7) but I’m just so fed up with the constant pressures and changing of guidelines to suit the waiting lists and targets rather than the patient care/ needs. I do only work two days a week and I do a few locum shifts a month. I just feel like I’ve had enough and want out and want to be at home more with my children. I’ve considered a job in industry where I could potentially work from home, but I just don’t know what else I could do? I looked into aesthetics but because we’re not on the NMC or HCPC I don’t think I’m able to do this unfortunately unless I retrain as a nurse of midwife then do a level 7 diploma in aesthetics. Sorry for the long post, just very fed up and feel like there’s no way out.

No advice but just want to say you have my sympathy, watched so many colleagues burn out because of their sodding 'computer says no, target target' mentality over patient safety.

Hope someone comes along with some ideas.

Thank you , doesn’t look like anything is popping up unfortunately. Hoping I can just win a decent amount of money on the lottery or something 😂 enough that I can pay the mortgage off then go and work in a florist or something whilst kids are at school 😂 that would be perfect for me I think!

@Anabanana85 I'm an NHS worker myself.. much lesser band than you though. I work in Admin. Im also desperate to leave for another job where I would be closer to home for my children and school runs etc I live 1hour 10mins away from my place of work & working 30hours. Hope something pops up for you 🤞 The benefits of the NHS are too good to leave for just any aul job😫

Hello, I was a staff nurse in the NHS for 15yrs but wanted a change of career. I worked alongside my hubby doing something completely different . Of late I have been thinking of doing aesthetics, but I understand it would be best to still be on the NMC register and also do a prescribers course ? Has anyone had any experience of.this please . Thank you

Hi, I know this is an old post but I am in the exact same position. CP7 work 2 days plus few bank shifts. Have you managed to change yet? I need to change but need a similar wage and really not interested in doing another 4 year degree!
