DWP New Job Transfer

Hi, i applied for an admin officer and executive officer role. I passed both interviews, however put on reseve list for executive officer.
I have accepted the formal offer for the admin officer role and am due to start next week. Yesterday i recieved an email from the executive officer role asking to accept a provisional offer and complete employment checks. I want the executive officer role and have accepted the provisional offer but im due to start the admin role. Any advice on how to handle this. Thanks.

id go for the one you really want. If it’s more responsibility and more money you want then go for it. The same happened to me when I started in the benefits agency way back. I really always wanted to work in the NHS but I had got this interview for benefits agency at one point, then a year later a six week medical office training thing came up which I was all set for. On the morning of that I was sitting waiting for my taxi when then benefits agency call me saying remember the interview you had with us a year ago? Are you still interested? Lol .. I thought they meant in another interview but I got the job. Anyway nearly 30 years later I’m redundant from DWP 13 years, still unemployed and trying hard to get back to NHS admin and getting nowhere. So go for one you want from the start. Good luck x

I would imagine the pre-employment checks are similar for both. Accept the EO role and see if the pre-employment checks can be transferred over. Explain to your line manager the situation for the AO role. It happens all the time because it takes so long to get started in CS that people often accept other jobs in the interim and CS lose potentially very good staff
