Own business - credit card receipts

Hi, a question for anyone who runs a business with multiple transactions daily e.g. cafe, shop, pub etc.

How do you store your copy of customer credit/debit card receipts??

I know I am supposed to keep them for 18 months, I know they are supposed to be secure, but practically, how do you keep them tidy and organised? box files? cash bags, poly pockets?? They are driving me crazy! I live and work on the premises, open 6 days a week. Many, many receipts! Any helpful suggestions for storage welcome. Thank you!

When I worked in a shop we kept them in envelopes for each week in a file, and as we added a weeks' worth of receipts we shredded the oldest weeks' worth.

Envelope per month. Shoved in a cupboard! But if you’ve customers then per week. Or I think there are now plenty of apps where you can scan and store them.

Locked filing cabinet in dated envelopes so it’s easy to find the receipt or chuck the whole envelope after 18 months. If you don’t have that many an envelope a month works well
