Working visa for Germany

Anyone know what I need to do about a visa if I'm planning on working in Germany for 8 months? I can't make sense of the gov website 😔.

There is info on .gov which tells you what you need, depending on whether it's a German or UK employer. Who will you be employed by and in what role?
