Carol52 · 29/08/2023 07:40

I am starting a ne job in under a week.
I haven't worked in over 15 years as I had been a full time carer for my father who lived with us until he passed away last year. I have to start work financially because it is me and 2 children.
I am so anxious and I haven't even been through any health questions before I start. I suffers a car accident which has caused a neck and back pain problems.
I am so worried that I am gong to cope.
With work again also it's the social aspect I haven't had to b in that situation.

Honestly? Take one day at a time. What industry are you going into if you don’t mind me asking?

Have you informed your employer of the two appointments? As they will need to arrange cover for you.

Thread op. I am due to start a new job on monday, having been off since February. I went self employed after years of coping with dd2's poor mental health (always having to leave work early when she was unwell etc). Cost of living means I have to go back to work (and keep some of my fledgling business going). I'm terrified. My last jobs went wrong due to family commitments and I'm worried it will happen. Again. I've Lost all confidence. I haven't Even turned a laptop on since February.

I'm so anxious about it and it's not like me at all.

I wish you well- and send lots of luck your way x

Are you being forced into taking this job?

lastminutewednesday · 29/08/2023 20:54

I'm totally based from home but it's quite IT heavy which I'm nervous about having it had to get my head around systems for so long.
It's related to the field I worked in for 23 years and trained for but not exactly the same thing.

Hi well because the dwp said I was able to work they said I had to look. I was offered this job but my health problems have got worse. My work coach is no help. She said fill in the forms again which I did . My restart coach said try the job and if it's to much then at least you have given it a go . I got totally confused between them as to what I had to do . I was told I had to take a job if I was deemed fit enough. So I said I would try

Thank you. I would definitely feel better if my children had a school bus but they don't do I have to drop them off early and let them walk about 15 Minutes to school who open at 8. Then rush to collect as they finish at 3.15 I finish at 4.00 so they are editing for me. Good luck to you. Kept in touch

Well if it helps my 17 year old cussed a huge fuss this morning as she forgot her phone then kicked off when I said she had to get the bus to school as I had to start work. Way to make a stressful situation worse! The logos office of getting four kids to four schools and working alongside are Confused.
I've had a lot of online training to do this week so at least an easy ish week from a work point of view but there is so much to learn that's very new for me, and I'm still not sleeping well at all :(

Hope your week is going ok work wise at least op. And that you got some sleep at last!

lastminutewednesday · 06/09/2023 11:18

Typos! 'Logistics of' that should read!

Newgirls · 06/09/2023 12:28

It will be stressful for a few weeks while you get into the routine. Focus on how well you are doing and how much you are learning and achieving each day. At the weekend reflect on how well you have done. You should feel proud of yourself for taking this step and giving you and your kids this income and opportunity.

Carol52 · 07/09/2023 13:23

Hi Wednesday. Great to hear from you.
Well I got through my first week . My children are shattered because they have to get up neatly one and a half hours earlier. I am shattered . The work at the moment is ok but I am new so I have had training and but to do . I. I am concerned at my two children getting tired with the early mornings . My daughter really likes her sleep so I am worried but we will see. We can try. My anxiety at night is still not great I am sleeping but I wake up and just be palpitations and can't rest. I hope you go on ok for the rest of the week. Let me know. Good luck

Hi (I've namechanged)
Well done on completing your first week. Kids will get used to the routine I'm
Sure. I hope you get some rest now and your sleep settles down. If I could just sleep I know I'd feel better about everything. I may take some nytol
Later-but the I feel groggy day after so maybe wait for the weekend. Even just 6 hours would help me calm down and stop being so anxious I think!

Carol52 · 07/09/2023 21:43
