Anyone used it or had much success with LinkedIn? Looking for work but it’s a lot of irrelevant stuff to trawl through contacts comment/re post all sorts of drivel. Lot of life stories in there now baby pics , books I’ve read etc. Also seen recently people begging for jobs I need a job bills to pay, kids cost money never thought I’d post this blah blah …think it’s a waste of time nowadays. Also so many recruiters don’t even bother to reply …used to be a useful tool but now it’s pointless it seems …

It has been random for me. Job applications these days need contact with the recruiter, so just applying without speaking to someone directly is largely a waste of effort. Then again, nothing comes of nothing.

I use LinkedIn to find contact recruiters and to apply if I can find out who to contact.

I think working with a recruitment agency is your best bet, but good ones are hard to find.

LinkedIn is certainly not the professional networking thing it once was. I get connection requests all the time from people I've never spoken to, which defeats the object I think.

I hate LinkedIn itself with all the self-styled influencers and LinkedIn experts...

BUT

I was headhunted through LinkedIn for a role previously and am using it now to find a new job and have been on four interviews. It's a good way for recruiters to get a feel for your skills and to see examples of you work, etc.

I don't post on it although I'm sure I should; it's all just noise though isn't it.

Yep it’s all just noise ! Years ago it was useful and professional now it’s just crap…people self congratulating etc etc 😜

I’m a headhunter and reply heavily on linked in for finding people as do almost all recruiters I know

i got my last job via linked in. I showed a friend of an acquaintance something that I'd found on LinkedIn and they just clicked my name and read my bio.

2 weeks later they called me to see if I'd fancy working at their company.
