Leaving a job after six months

yyyy4321 · 23/08/2023 09:41

I started a new job after six years in my previous job.

The new job is quit a big change from my
old job but I'm not sure it's quite right for me. I'm a bit bored and frustrated in it to be honest.

Anyone left so quickly after starting?

Wait until you've secured a more suitable role before handing in your notice. I'm assuming the boredom isn't unbearable.

No it's fine.

I wouldn't quit without a new job but wondering about looking even though I've only been there a few months.

I've stuck out a few jobs because I 'ought' to and because 'it's only been a few months' and it did me and my employers no favours. I was bored and disengaged and they knew it.

I'd start looking.

Same. In my job history I have 2 jobs, one I stayed at 7 months the other 10 months. The first was bullying and a toxic work culture only someone would understand if they were there. The last one, colleagues were so very nice but the job was boring with absolutely no chance of progression or anything and the benefits were bad. I had work secured before I left but as much as I don't like have short term employment on my application forms, I refuse to stay somewhere for 5 days a week where my health is affected due to being in the wrong job or being bullied.Life really is too short.

Talk to your line manager and discuss the issues.

I left a job after 5 months...before I even started I had little doubts & within the first month I knew I had made a huge mistake leaving my previous job. I felt I owed it to the company to stick with it but in hindsight I should've left sooner, I hated it! It got to the stage I dreaded going to work! Fortunately, I was still on good terms with my previous manager as we are friends outside of work & they were more than happy to give me my old job back.

For me, if I don't feel challenged, motivated & engaged in work, its the wrong role for me.

@yyyy4321 can i ask what you did. I'm in a similar position to you now. I'm also very anxious as I'm going through infertility so work does not help.
