Cold feet after accepting job

Short version of my dilemma… I’m due to start a new job shortly but I’m having a serious wobble about whether I want to take on the role.

Has anyone withdrawn from an offer at the last minute? I don’t know what’s worse - dropping out now, or starting and handing in my notice in a short space of time. The notice period during probation is only 1 week. I’m due to start in a couple of weeks…

What is causing the wobble, what exactly are your thoughts about it? I think we need more information to give proper advice.

I.e., is that you dislike change? Does it involve more responsibility? Are alarm bells ringing about the company culture? Is there a paycut?

As per above, it depends what is causing it. I have. I accepted a job once and then withdrew a few days later. It was the right thing for me to do, though I have occasionally revisited the decision (it’s still the right thing). I was willing to take anything to leave my workplace and I realised that it was a bad decision.
