What does an application stats of-
we’re finalising all documentation regarding your application- actually mean?
Pre employment checks completed over 6 weeks ago and status changed to this on the day they were satisfactorily completed
Nothing at all since. No answer to any emails enquiring what now.
Hope someone can help

It's tough. Are you able to contact the vacancy manager (not HR). They will be keen to get you into post.

It could quite frankly mean anything from "the person dealing with your application has gone on annual leave" to "we've got 30 people to finalise in our busy CS department so we've put a holding status on to keep you "warm" and not go off and get another job!"

So it is part of recruitment campaign. Received provisional offer moths ago and asked to do pre employment checks which were straightforward and have been completed 7 weeks ago.
Spoke to vacancy holder nearly 3 weeks ago and was told the intention was to start in later part of September. Was told I’d be contacted when pre employment check passed but at that stage I’d already been through that stage for some time. Don’t know if she’d been informed. Have heard nothing since.
Anyway I’m hoping someone with inside knowledge can tell me if this is the way things normally work in the CC or if you’d chase it up? If so would you do so now or let the holiday weekend go by?
Also would you contact the recruitment team who organised the checks or the vacancy holder?

Hi chase it up with the vacancy holder as well as with the recruiting person/team.

It could mean anything but quite possibly they're not doing anything with it currently.

Some managers are very proactive. Some recruit less often and are not proactive or don't appreciate how poor recruitment can be.

When we're recruiting I have to invest an awful lot of time in keeping in touch with candidates and my PA spends a lot of time chasing HR...

I would let next week go by if you can.

I'm in CS and a lot of people take leave atm not least of all due to childcare, school hols.

I'd get in touch with them in early Sep, I think Monday is 4th Sep.

Thanks. I did wonder about the impact of the school holidays. Leaving it until September to enquire does seem to be cutting it fine if I’m expecting to start later that month.
But I guess that so many things like producing id and signing contracts can be done online now- it might still fall into place ..

Do this- politely. The hiring manager should be able to drill into the portal and see where it is stick. I'm no recruiter but have hired a lot.

There's a newish social media check at the end (called media check) that can be slow or when your references are slow to respond. If references were contacted on Aug they could be on leave.

Which Dept are you?

MoD have had a recruitment freeze, they have started moving again but DBS are releasing in stages! 🙄

Putting together your actual contract?

My process took 12 weeks from accepting job/getting provisional offer to taking up post, but I had to have security clearance done as well and couldn't give notice at my current job until everything came back fine just in case. Luckily my employer knew I had accepted the job and allowed me to back date my resignation.

I kept in touch with my new line manager with every update on the website so she could plan for my arrival.
