Advice on occupational health

I suffer from anxiety and depression . I do a government role notorious for poor mental health . I’ve reached burn out ( v common). My manager has not been supportive particularly and there have been a number of incidents with clients that have left me in tears . I’ve been suffering with extreme stress for a few months , the jobs got much harder . The work is high volume , lots of daily abuse. I’ve been attacked in a previous job so I have to be aware . There’s been close calls

Unlike other similar places we have not been able to wfh it’s front facing ( we could do wfh ). There’s no real break from the work . We all sit of top of each other and the work is constant . They are extremely short staffed as most can’t handle the job for too long .

I’ve been referred to occupational health . Other roles have been touted as a possibility ( I would love this ). Or some kind of adjustments . There’s lots of things I can do.

Does any one have any experience with occupational health when it comes to stress in customer facing roles ?

Can I be honest ? Will it be used against me ? I’ve not met any sick threshold but I am burnt out .

I would be honest as you can OP and say everything you have here.

Occupational health obviously will report to the employer but ultimately they are there to get you back to work a way you can manage for your health. If a different department is the option that would help you most then say that to them and explain why (not customer facing/can’t take the abuse etc). They’ll make a recommendation which HR will then discuss with you I imagine.
